4 Weeks to Go PDF Print E-mail

Did a really hard conditioning workout this morning, and it really sucked having to do it.  My traininer said I looked strong from start to finish, so I feel more than ready to fight.  I still have a few pounds to lose, but don't expect any problems.  I still have four weeks to go, and now that I'm being more disciplined about what I eat and drink, the pounds are coming off much more easily than expected.

I got my certificate of eligibility from Japan today.  Next week I will go to Calgary to apply for my work visa, and return home to finish the week training here.  Everything seems to be going well.  No injuries, no problems.  The skin infection I had last week has completely cleared up, and today I will resume normal training.  Looking forward to getting back on the mats after a week off.  I haven't felt this good in a long time.  I'm really looking forward to this fight.  I have 30 days to go, and I'm starting to wish I didn't have to wait so long.  I think that might be a good sign...

So I got half way to Calgary yesterday and realized I had to turn around and go home.  I have a mild skin infection that will keep me off the mats for about a week.  Fortunetely it's easily treated and I'm still over a month away from the fight, so that won't affect my training much at all.  Also, I was able to catch it before training with anyone else.   I will stay off the mats and avoid contact until next Monday, then resumre normal training.

The good news is that I still have five weeks to go, and feeling in great shape.  Sengoku has announced my opponent, as well.  I will be facing Takenori Sato.  I think he should be a tough opponent.  He recently fought to a draw with my last opponent from Sengoku.  I am confident that I will be ready to put on a great performance.

5 Weeks to Fight PDF Print E-mail

Just over five weeks from fight night.  Had an insane conditioning workout this morning, and I have to admit it was unpleasant.  Now that it's over, I am sure that I'm going to be in great shape for my fight.  I leave today for Calgary.  I will spend a few days training at BDB Martial Arts, with guys like Jason Day and Nick Ring.  Should be back home Sat.  I'm looking forward to some training time with these guys.  They are some of Canada's top talent, and I think it will be good for me.

When I get back, I'll have four weeks to finish preparing, and losing weight.  I'm glad I started training a few weeks earlier this time, as I think it will be a little easier to cut the weight this time.  The flight and time difference in Japan take their toll on my body, so I'd like to have a little less work to do when cutting the weight when I get there.

Six Weeks Away PDF Print E-mail

Six weeks away from the big fight, and still no idea who my opponent will be.  Hope to find out soon, but it could be another month before I find out.  Not gonna worry about it too much.  Just focused on being well rounded and in great shape.  Want to cut a few less pounds this time than last time, so I'm really working hard at losing weight, eating cleaner, and not lifting as much as I have been.

Aside from my coach, there will be two other people coming with me on this trip.  My good friend, and another training partner from the gym.  So the four of us have decided to stay in Tokyo for two days after the fight, to do a little sightseeing before coming home.  I'm really looking forward to this trip.  Should be a lot of fun.  The fight should be a good one, because I know I'll be in great shape and more than ready for whoever I face.  There are a lot of very talented fighters in Sengoku so I'm sure it will be an exciting fight, no matter who they match me up with.

SENGOKU 10 PDF Print E-mail

Ok, so for those who don't already know, I have recently learned that my next fight will be on the Sengoku 10 show, Sept 23 in Tokyo Japan.  I have been training hard for the last three weeks, and already feel in great shape.  I am now 7 weeks and 1 day away from the fight.  THings are going well.  I was able to enjoy a few weeks of summer, and now I will tighten up my diet and push a little harder with training, until the fight.  I am allowing myself a few bigger meals and some beer, on Saturdays only, for the next three to four weeks.

As of right now, I have no idea who my opponent will be.  While I'm a little curious, I don't think that it's going to matter to me who it is.  The training will be the same, and I'll be ready to face whoever they put in front of me.  There are a lot of talented fighters in that organization, so I will just assume that I'm going to have a very tough fight ahead of me.

Everything looks good.  I feel healthy and strong, and I have lots of time to prepare.
